1. Socks. I blew out the heels in two pairs of hand made socks this fall when the weather turned cold and I started wearing them again. And never mind that both boys are going to need a pair of socks to wear with their winter boots by next year since they are about to outgrow the ones they currently own. Clearly it’s time to knit some more. I’m considering a Yarn Harlot style self imposed sock club.
2. Two Sweaters. The Mister has been wanting me to knit him a Doctor Who themed sweater for some time now. The only thing that’s holding me back is the sheer amount of work of it. He’s not a small dude, you know? I also have the yarn for another sweater for me.
3. Spin. I still have a crap ton of Romney fleece to spin. I should do that. The plan is to not spin it so fine or to navajo ply it (but first I have to finish the quiviut/silk blend which wants to be a teeny tiny yarn).
What’s on your to-do list for this year?
I’m planning on
a) knitting a Monet
b) studying law
c) having a nervous breakdown
Not necessarily in that order.
The self imposed sock club sounds like a good idea actually. I have a big tub of sock yarn which is sitting and mocking me. It’s never fun being mocked by yarn. Especially really pretty yarn.
I knit things that don’t have to fit, so my list includes 2 dozen dishclothes, a dozen scarf and hat sets, plus a long list of Christmas ornaments to cross stitch.
I’ll finish up the current Minimalist cardigan and then tackle old UFOs that have been piling up, as it makes me twitchy to have too many (which, to me, is >3) WIPs. After that, prob. another sweater for me, since I already have yarn and pattern chosen. Beyond that is anybody’s guess.
Knitting more from my stash. For sure. I’m embarrassed at it’s enormity. lol
I’m going to make hats for my niece and finn wants me to make him a big boy version of the snow man hat that I made when he was a baby. Of course I’ll finish it for next year and then he won’t wear it.
What does “a Yarn Harlot style self imposed sock club” entail? Knitting socks from the stash? or buying a new sock yarn to knit socks from every month? Yes, maybe if I read her blog (tried years ago, found it, well, ~meh~ for me, yes, I know that’s a knitting sin ;)), I’d know. What kind of Dr theme? can’t wait to see it.
This year entails working a full-time and part-time job(s)…going to school part time, working on health issues (practically a part-time job in itself!) and other stuff…of which knitting is seemingly low on the list for… so my goal is to KEEP knitting and actually um, ‘finish’ things. Not my strong suit. So as much as I love socks, no socks are in my future this year…cuz you know really, you should have two, and i’m not so good at two…. Your list is quite impressive!
Looks like a reasonable list… Socks and sweaters and spinning! Oh my!
All that I have on my knitting to do list for 2011 is to finish a stole that I’ve been working on (well, off & on) for years, and to knit myself a pair of Star Trek socks. I’m already making good progress on the socks, so now I just need to commit some time to the stole…
