I had a wonderful day today, starting with a sushi lunch with my Totally Awesome Sister, followed by a marathon of clothes shopping! I picked up a few new pieces which I may get around to taking pictures of. But later. Right now I am ensconced in a blanket with my feet up and with my sweater in progress and my Sleepytime+ tea watching a movie with my darling hubs. Hope you have a similarly delightful and relaxing evening!

Sock Class is Over :-(
My sock class ended today and I graduated 4 new MLTU* sock knitters into the world! I’m sad to see them go, but I know they have all the tools they need to make socks! I might see them again, actually. They were all asking for another class, so I’m thinking of doing a top-down cardigan. (They were all quite shocked to learn that a cardigan can be knitted seamlessly from the top down (yes, sleeves and everything!)). I’m thinking of teaching a baby cardigan, or I could write up a pattern and have it sized from baby up through adult. Or, and this is probably what the shop owner would prefer, we could do a pattern which she carries in the shop which people would have to purchase. Possibly this? Or this? Personally I’d rather teach someone the basics of how to do something so that it can be translated into more complicated stuff later. And, with a baby cardigan (this is a good pattern) it could at least be done quickly. We’ll see. I’m supposed to look at my schedule and get back to her.
Now I can go back to knitting my cardigan (only one more sleeve decrease to go before knitting to the end of the sleeve and then I do the button bands/shawl collar!). So close to the end. So close!
Have a great weekend, ya’ll!

Sweater Deathmatch, Round 5

One sleeve completed, one cast on. I forgot how quickly the knitting goes. Given today’s weather, I should have enough time to finish it. This is the weather we woke up to on the first full day of Spring:

Never let it be said that Mother Nature is without a sense of humor.
One of Those Days
We stayed up entirely too late last night, as we are still trying to adjust to Daylight Saving Time, and mornings around these parts have been rather rough the last few days. So rough, in fact, that we had convinced ourselves (thanks to help from the calendar! stupid calendar!) that our firstborn had a doctor’s appointment today. Not only did he not have an appointment with the doctor we thought he had an appointment with, he didn’t even have an appointment with the doctor whose name we had written down! In other words, we dragged ourselves from our bed before we were ready, got the kids ready and out of the house, and drove from one end of town to the other FOR NO REASON AT ALL. We really don’t understand why DST is shredding our ass so thoroughly this year, but it really is. And we are not lying.
In other news, we have finished the body of our sweater and have started a sleeve. Pictures possibly tomorrow? Or maybe even Friday? Further, we have frogged and restarted the sock class socks and are considering frogging and restarting again. First they were too big, and now we don’t particularly care for the acute pointiness of the toe. We hope our students understand if we don’t have a whole 7-3/4 inches of sock to show them on Saturday when we start work on the heel turn.
Lastly, here’s a picture from our aquarium trip which amuses us greatly.

See you tomorrow!
Getting in Under the Wire. Again.
… with a photo post!

I’ve been working on my homework today. :-D
Oops, It’s After 11 pm
I haven’t forgotten you, my dear Interrupticans! It’s been such a fun and exciting day here and I had to catch up on my knitting before I could do a post! Today, I taught my very first knitting class. At the LYS, I met with four wonderful ladies and started showing them how to make toe-up socks, two at a time using the magic loop using this tutorial I wrote for my friend Adrienne a couple of summers ago. If you’d like to knit along with us, I think that would be great fun! Cast on as soon as you can and knit the foot until it is 1-1/2 inches shorter than the total length of the foot. We’re going to be doing the short row heel next week.
Also, don’t forget to set your clocks ahead an hour tonight!
Sweater Deathmatch, Round 4
We actually have been working on the sweater, intermittently and are very nearly finished with the waist shaping, but since we haven’t had as much time to work on it as we had hoped for (what with all the laundry and the orchestra and the making pancakes and such) there hasn’t been much progress on the sweater in recent days. We actually had to go back to the laundry mat today, if you can believe that, and tomorrow we have promised the children a trip to the aquarium. Further, on Saturday, dear Reader, your very own Interrupted Knitter is going to be teaching a class at the local yarn store! (We are both excited and nervous for that.). We had very much hoped for this sweater to have been defeated by now, but it truly appears that we shall have to wait until Sunday (at the very soonest!) to vanquish our foe.
As an aside, we wonder, dear reader, if it is very bad form for the instructor of a class to be utterly focused on finishing a project which is quite different from that which she is teaching. Are there any knitting instructors among our readership who have an answer?
Sweater Deathmatch, Round 3

Woke to find the cat (probably Lolly, grr) had attacked the sweater over night. Several stitches were snagged. One ply of one stitch was licked clean in half. I went ahead and completed the yoke anyway.
Sweater Deathmatch, Round 2
1. I knitted for much of the morning and early afternoon and didn’t even finish the yoke. With 10 more rows to go, I might be able to make it past the yoke before midnight, but this sweater is proving to be a formidable foe.
2. My wrist and arm are making noises at me, which is why I took a portion of the day off from knitting. A formidable foe indeed.
3. I like this yarn, but, unlike more heavily processed yarns, it definitely has a strong sheepy odor. This is not necessarily a bad thing, just not something I’m used to. Yet.
4. I haven’t even made a dent in the first yarn cake. It’s like a bottomless yarn cake.
5. I’m really surprised this yarn gets away with being called a bulky weight. It’s a heavy worsted at best. Still, I like how it’s knitting up. I love marled yarns.
6. It’s impossible to get a decent picture in my living room at night, but I tried.

Sweater Deathmatch, Round One
The yarn I ordered for Iced arrived today! I wound it into three fat cakes as soon as I was able.

I did a quick swatch and then I cast on! This sweater’s going down.
