Tagged!

I was tagged by Eyre for this meme last week. Sorry I haven’t gotten to it until now. It seems like everyone has done it by now. Oh well, here we go:

1) What was I doing 10 years ago?

It was the year I moved out of my parent’s home and into my first apartment. It was the year I met my (now) husband. It was the year I graduated from college and moved to Connecticut to be with him. Big big changes, that year.

2) What are 5 things on my to-do list for today (not in any particular order):

Do some laundry, mainly towels. Wash the dishes. Head over to Trader Joe’s at some point. Take Isaac to his art class down at the Farm School. Knit.

3) Snacks I enjoy:

Chocolate. Potato Chips. Coffee. Carrots w/ Hummus. Chocolate.

4) Things I would do if I were a billionaire:

Start alternative energy company and/or support the company that is developing this.

5) Places I have lived:
Utah, California, Idaho, Connecticut, New York

5 peeps I want to know more about: I’m not big on the tagging, so feel free to lift this meme for your own blog. If you do, make sure you link back to me so I can see your answers. Although, my TAS might do this meme. Also, we haven’t seen any posts from Quirky Mom in a while–wonder what she’s up to.

Remember Scattergories?

I stole this from Maryse a while back. Enjoy!

The game is SCATTERGORIES, and it’s harder than it looks! Here are the rules: Use the 1st letter of your name to answer each of the following. They MUST be real places, names, things…NOTHING made up! If you can’t think of anything, skip it. Try to use different answers if the person before you had the same 1st initial. You CAN’T use your name for the boy/girl name question. Have fun!

Your Name: Jen

1. Famous Singer/Band: Janis Joplin (bonus for 2 J’s!)

2. 4 letter word: Just

3. Street: Jeffery St.

4. Color: Jade Green

5. Gifts/Presents: Jewelry

6. Vehicle: Jeep

7. Things in a Souvenir Shop: Junk

8. Boy Name: Jesus

9. Girl Name: Jasmine

20. Things You Shout: JUMP!

21. Cartoon Character: Jerry (as in Tom &)

First Sentence Meme

I’ve seen this around and thought it would be fun. Let’s have a look back at a year of blogging, shall we? The idea is to post the first sentence from the first post of each month. Enjoy, and please feel free to use at will! (Thanks to Carole!)

January
I blog about as often as I journal.

February
We’re home from our trip to Florida.

March
I am knitting away on E’s sweater.

April
It has been a while since my last post and I think I ought to take care of that, even though there isn’t much to post about.

May
I don’t know how many posts I will do where the sole purpose is to point you to a link–this is my first–but I wanted to share this link with so many people, I figured this would be the easiest way.

June
It’s Faire season.

July
I woke up yesterday, feeling slightly nauseous and was, two hours later, in the throes of a vicious stomach flu.

August
…too busy getting ready to schlep up to Madison with my children to see the Yarn Harlot tomorrow.

September
…chosen by random sequence generation at random.org, is Bellamoden!

October
I had to rip back a few inches of my secret project because I didn’t “short row down” enough stitches.

November
Remember when I mentioned that I would be too busy in the month of November for Holiday knitting?

December
Today has been one of those days, spent mostly distracted by the computer and cleaning up after children (including the 6′4″ child to whom I am married) and I have nothing of interest really to report.

This is a fun meme. I notice that I start a lot of blog posts with some variation of “I don’t have anything to blog about” but I always seem to come up with something. I think I’m going to resolve not to do that in the new year. Hah. That’s a post for another day! :-)

Pay It Forward Meme

Pay It Forward is probably one of the best internet themes I’ve seen. The following is lifted almost directly from Divine Bird

I have joined in Pay It Forward, the blogging adventure in which I create handmade gifts for the first three people to comment on this post. In exchange, those three people must also post this on their blog, and create handmade gifts for the first three people that comment on THEIR entries…and so on, and so forth.

The great thing about this particular little meme, however, is that the time limit on the gifts is ONE YEAR. That’s right–you have ONE YEAR in which to make and send your gift. Since I am posting on December 6th, 2007, I will promise that the gift will arrive on your doorstep sometime between now and December 5, 2008. It may not be a big gift, or an especially expensive gift, and I might not even announce that it’s on its way. But it WILL be a special, handmade gift made JUST for you. I will take into account your likes and dislikes, and you never know whether it’ll be a knitted item, a box of cookies, or even a tape of songs I sing (okay, maybe not that).

If you want one of these very special little gifts, you have to be one of the first three commenters, and you do need to offer this same thing on your blog. Even if you’re not usually crafty, nothing says you can’t bake cookies or make a card or a scrapbook, or whatever. The only thing is that you have to make the gift yourself.

I’m looking forward to your comments! :-)

Later, a Finished Object…

Interview Questions (another meme!)

Much thanks to my totally awesome sister who sent me these interview questions.

1) if you had the power to change the world, what would you keep the same and why?

Human beings have made such a mess of things, I think I would have to examine the microcosm to find anything to keep the same.

2) aside from having children, what event or series of events, changed you, made you the person you are today?

There really is no other event or series of events. Becoming a mother is THE life-changing moment. Ask me again in 10 years.

3) if you were a wealthy person and you had to choose three charities to sponsor, which would you choose? Why? And how would you delegate your budget between them?

Hands down, I would give most of my money to La Leche League. Happy, confident, loving mothers beget happy, confident, loving children. I would probably give the rest of the money to organizations working to develop renewable energy resources and to save the earth’s rain forests.

4) aside from wishing health and happiness for your children, what are your dreams and expectations for them? What do you think (or hope) they will choose to do with their lives?

Only that they contribute to society in a positive way.

5) you have a passion for knitting. Now that you been doing it for a few years, what do you hope to accomplish in terms of knitting skills, projects, “masterpieces?”

I want to knit a Bohus and am planning that for a project in the not-too-distant future. Also, I would love to knit beautiful, gossamer lace. But I hesitate to start that until the children are older and less distracting.

Would you like to be interviewed for your blog? Let me know in your comments and I will craft custom interview questions for you.
