My Groove is Slightly Off

I’ve cast on and frogged the same shopping bag about five times now. I really want to knit a bunch of them, but I just don’t have the right needles. I ordered a circular needle from Patternworks, but it isn’t here yet, so it looks like I will have to take a break from this one.

I cast on for the socks but my gauge doesn’t match the pattern’s gauge. I’m trying to decide which to adjust–the pattern or my gauge. Having cables involved complicates things a bit. Maybe I will have to design my own toe-up cabled socks?

I haven’t yet cast on for the Booga Bag. Perhaps I will move on to that and make some progress there, but I’m skeptical.

Also, I should probably work on my swatches, but until I get my groove back, I think I’m just going to stay away.

  1. Speaking of swatches, I have cast #9 on about 6 times. This is getting embarrassing! There have been 6 different reasons but the persistent one is that my SSK really shows whereas my K2T doesn’t. And last night at the Town Meeting I knit too far. (The sewer discussion was too consuming!) I think I will frog it and start over when I unknit the overknitting. Sigh.

  2. Oh No! Not the Mojo!! I hope it all returns with a good nights rest, and some appropriate needles for the shopping bag. I haven’t tried the widdershins yet, but it is in my list of things to do. Let us know how it all comes out in the end. How did the Xmas socks go? Is that the Harlot’s pattern? I’m taking a break from my socks, and knitting up a bunch of little creatures for the Preschool Carnival. Each parent has to donate a hand made item. I think it will be fun. Talk to you soon!
