What I find more amazing than the medical acheivement accomplished, is the fact that the perpetrator got “off” so lightly. In America, the accused would have been charged and punished according to the fullest extent of the law, regardless of the feelings of forgiveness from the victim, or the feelings of remorse from the accused. I find it also amazing that the victim was able to forgive so easily: would an American have been able to do the same? Too many of us hold our grudges too closely…
