41

Friday marked another year, another birthday. 40 wasn’t too terrible, if y’all were wondering. I expect 41 will be about the same.

Today marks the start of another year of my life and brings me within spitting distance of the big 4-0, although I don’t feel a day over 28. Generally, I’m feeling pretty good and looking forward to this year. It will be a year of big changes, what with the move to Florida and all, and I can’t wait. Happy birthday to me! :-)

Today is Isaac’s 10th birthday. I am in awe that so many years have passed between this:

and this:

Because the former seems like yesterday. Happy birthday, Isaac!

Today marked the anniversary of my birth, the commemoration of another ride on this rock around the sun. Generally this has been a decent year and honestly I have very few complaints. I have two wonderful little boys who bring me so much joy, and a wonderful supporting and indulging husband who never complains about my knitting habit or my internet usage. I have so many wonderful friends on Facebook who wished me a happy birthday on my wall (as an aside, I really love getting birthday wishes on my FB wall, it’s such a small, easy thing and it’s so touching). We have enough money, enough food, enough of enough things that our lives are generally stress-free. If I had any complaints about this past year, it would be that I’ve struggled with fatigue for the last few months, really crushing fatigue. I’ve tried so many things, various vitamins and minerals, oxygen therapy (that was fun), I gave up coffee and evening television. The only thing that has helped even a little was when my pulmonologist reduced my asthma medication by half. So, for the last couple of weeks I have been feeling slightly less fatigued (and slightly more asthmatic). Not 100% like myself, but I’m getting there. So, 38 whole trips around the sun completed and another one begun. Here’s to a great 39th year. Happy birthday to me. :-)

Another swing around the sun completed, and a new one began. Cheers.

Today is E’s 4th birthday, which, in all honesty, surprises the heck out of me. This morning I was informed that he “grew up into a kid like I8”. I think this perfectly sums up the experience of being a younger sibling (well, not that I would know, since I am the oldest but, you know). Then he ran off with his new iPod (his VERY OWN!) singing along with his favorite song, the Banana Phone Song.

Ah, yes…

I’ve just finished putting away the Thanksgiving leftovers and am sitting here, enjoying a cup of coffee and the last couple of bites of E3’s pumpkin pie. I must say that I’m quite tickled with myself. The ginormous bird was roasted to juicy perfection. The stuffing, cooked in the crockpot with the turkey’s wingtips and tail, was delightfully deletable. The gravy, made with giblet broth (but no giblets) and turkey drippings, was velvety and flavorful. The green salad was cool and crisp, a perfect complement the savory warmth of the other dishes. All in all, it was probably the best Thanksgiving meal I’ve ever made. Sadly, there are no pictures. The entire meal had been consumed before it occurred to me to document it in photographic posterity. Oh well.

There’s another reason today is a special day. Today is I’s 7th birthday.

How is it even possible? I can’t believe he’s seven already! Isaac had a pretty good year. He learned how to tie his shoes this year, and how to ride a bicycle (skipping over training wheels entirely). He has really started getting a handle on reading and math and we earned that, for I7, the number zero is really really red, the color of fire, and that the larger a number is, the greener it is.

Anyhow, happy Thanksgiving to all my bloggy buddies and long distance friends. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! (And a happy birthday if today also happens to be your birthday, hah!)
