Here are the photos which I failed to provide you yesterday.
First, a finished dish cloth:

Next, a new dishcloth cast on:

Here’s the Blue Blossom Shawl, still coming along nicely (only 8 more repeats to go!):

This post will probably jinx me, but I am actually enjoying this section quite a bit and without all the stitch markers, it’s not only faster to knit, it’s easier. See the tiny triangles? Aren’t they twee?!

TWEE!
(Sorry for the lighting of this photo. Sadly it’s the best I can do at this hour of night. I really need a light box. Or to be blogging in the daytime when there is natural light to shoot with.)
Look at what my awesome friend Weaver found! Absolutely perfect mindless/in front of the TV/travel knitting! I am so excited to try this out, and maybe even teach the technique at the LYS. I’m going to start out with a worsted weight and see how quickly it works up. Squee! I’ll be busy for the rest of the evening. And you knitters out there know you will be too.
I’ve made a little bit of progress on my sister’s shawl, finishing up the center blossom section and getting a good start of the outer open-work section which gave me so much trouble before. I’m doing it without all those stitch markers this time, so the knitting is going somewhat faster than it did before. It’s still going to take a long time though. According to my calculations this section will take about 60 hours of knitting. It seems overwhelming at this point, given that until now, I’ve only been able to give it a little of my knitting time in any one sitting. I really do need to find the time to work on it during the day too. I should also probably work a life line in there at some point as well. No pictures tonight though. My most humble apologies for that.
How are your knitting projects coming along?
Very nearly a year ago this happened. Well, it happened again, only this time it was to this sweater.

I’m so upset, I don’t even have the words. I swear, I didn’t wash it any differently this last time than I have since the day I finished it. I put it in the water (lukewarm!) and it was only slightly fuzzed, and when I pulled it out it was felted. I don’t know if it’s my washing machine, agitating my wool on the sly, or if it got too jostled when I pressed it down into the water, or if it’s the crappy Wool of the Andes yarn. Blaaargh, I’m so frustrated and sad for my sweater. I loved it so much. :-(
Thing the first: I need to have some travel knitting, something small and mindless for knitting abroad. Right now, that’s a dishcloth.

Thing the second: I need to actually work on my sister’s Blue Blossom Shawl so I can finally finish it already. It’s my evening knitting from now until it’s done.
Thing the third: The strangest sensation has taken me over and I have an intense desire to do some sewing. Tomorrow I will make a drawstring bag (or two), a hand bag organizer thingy, and some PJ pants for myself and the boys.
Thing the fourth: I have a couple of library books (The Lathe of Heaven and Lilith’s Brood) which I have on inter-library loan. If I am ever to finish reading them before I have to return them, I need to spend less time on the Internets. Well…. You know, I’ll TRY to do that.
I had an appointment this afternoon with my pulmonologist and, literally as I was running out the door to make the appointment, I grabbed a teeny ball of yarn (leftovers from this) and a set of needles and stuffed them into my purse. Turns out it was a good thing that I remembered to bring some knitting with me, because the doctor had been delayed at the hospital and I had to wait (nearly 90 minutes) before he was able to see me. I cast on and knitted this much

of a teeny baby hat. It turns out I don’t have nearly as much of that yarn as I thought I did, but still, it kept my fingers busy and my mind active while I sat in the waiting room. I feel bad for E5 though. He was such a little trooper and waited so patiently. Also, I used the free wi-fi in the office to download angry birds for him to play, so that helped. Knitting and wi-fi, 2 things I cannot live without. And, it turns out, I can live without as much asthma medication as I have been taking. So it’s a WIN all around!
I did it! I managed to uncouple the warp field array on this damn sweater and actually make some progress on it! Last night I cast it off and gave it a quick wash. Holy crap did this yarn relax when it got wet. The sweater is meant to be big and roomy but not as big and roomy as it was when I pulled it out of the wash. I laid it flat and let it sit over night and when I got up this morning, I actually tossed its stubborn, still-damp self into the dryer for 5 minutes. That was just the ticket; it tightened back up nicely.

All it needs is some buttons to hold it shut and I’m all set! w00t!
I swear, there’s some sort of space/time warping effect that happens as you approach the end of a project. Last night, I sat down with my tea and a silly movie to knit the last couple of inches of this damn sweater, and when the movie was finished, I swear I had the same amount of garter stitch as I had when I started!

If only there were some way to harness this, we’d completely solve the world’s energy needs! Knitters: your alternate energy source since 2011.

I’ve got about 3 inches of button band/shawl collar finished (it’s all bunched up so the stitches don’t drop off the needles) and won’t be able to get any more done until after orchestra rehearsal tonight. Also, look what Lolly did:

I swear, if Doozer didn’t like her so much, I would make the most delicious stew out of her. Grr….
